My third take on the two Kaktus Towers in Copenhagen.

D3 + Zeiss Milvus 50mm. Wonder how it would have turned out with a D4 or D5.

The D3 is a great camera. I still have lots of photos on my walls printed big that show: Even 12 MP which appear few today mean a lot of resolution if you work with good glass and technique!

In practical terms the 16 MP of my X100T, the 24 MP on diverse bodies and the 45 MP on the D850 do not make a huge difference.

For me the character of the sensor noise is interesting (D500 is my favourite, followed by the D3) and the rendering of the lenses

Yes, I got that bit - I was the one who commented this to begin with.

Ah, my bad. Sorry about that.

Nice camera in a nice setting, however where is the lens hood? Such contraptions have saved the day many times in my photographic career.

A sward of water horsetail Equisetum fluviatile against a coruscating water surface, and camera with a long lens. The outcome is given, be it a cliché or not.

Very beautiful "bubbles" .. looks like the 2/200 bokehwise

The water surface was quite close, thus the bokeh balls didn't get much enlarged. However, the curved surface of the entrance pupil is evident, more so than with the 200/2 if memory serves. The image is cropped as I'm not a big fan of cat's eye bokeh.

In terms of image sharpness etc. the 400/4.5 is amazingly good. Its bokeh performance varies depending on the actual scene and the way you approach it photographically. Most of the time, the background is a very pleasant blur.

No cliché, just a beautiful image contrasting sharp, fine details & bokeh that seem to have turned into amoebas Birna
I must look out for coruscating water myself ;)

No worries Birna, you're absolutely right - I just took it out of the bag and put the hood on after the photo. It is important to shield the front lens from direct sun and mechanical damage.
