different to my concept of a clean modern Tokio

is the graffitti inside the booth ?

Thank you, Armando.

I guess the graffitti is painted from outside but I'm not sure.  The area around the center of Shibuya in Tokyo is not very clean, but I just felt this graffitti backlit by both the headlight of a car and the LED light inside the booth looked rather attractive.

Nice retro shot. It looks like it’s seen better days. Does it still work? Here in the US, finding a public phone and having it actually work is harder to do than finding a public bathroom (at least in my infrastructurally challenged country).

More test shooting.

The Leitz APO-Telyt 180mm f/3.4 does excellently in IR, although the picture below apparently suggests otherwise. Its handling is rather poor, though.

Thank you, Tom.  The public phones are becoming scarce in Japan, too.  The phones themselves should work, if you can find one.  The problem is that the booths generally stink of cigarette, which is unbearable to me.

On the other hand, Shibuya ward had a unique project called "The Tokyo Toilet" to commission a selection of architects to design public bathrooms.  Here is the website for the projects:

The rolling shutter makes it look like it is really making an effort to go fast

Interesting, which shutter speed did you use?

For this museum heritage train (from 1890's and thereabouts), rolling shutter is less of an issue. As the camera now was a DSLR as well,  there was little danger in the first place.

A rainy day gave muted false colours.

I rather like these muted false colours.

Would love see this museum.
