Introductions > Introduce Yourself

Hello from western France

Coriolan:
New to this forum, let me introduce myself to all NG community members : I am 56 yo, and have been a Nikon owner for 19 years. 1st digital Nikon in 2003 (a Coolpix 990) followed by a D70, sold for a 2nd hand D1X and D2h, then a D2Xs to finaly get a D4 that i use and love. Also got back to film with a F100, sold for a F5 and a F4s that i both still use for B&W photography (turned digital using a Nikon Coolscan IV ED)

I photograph - as an amateur - mainly landscapes, monuments and portraits encountered during my travels, whether distant or not from the place i live in.

The race for pixels and the latest camera out is not a priority in my opinion : I love to use old gear made of metal and glass instead of newer full plastic cameras/lenses.

Lucky enough to own nice (but old) cameras and lenses, i am happy to join the community of NG, I wish you all a very happy holiday season !

Welcome to this peaceful corner of cyberspace! You will fit right in. Do not be shy about showing your photographs.

I'm not sure that a D1X is worthwhile. However, those two AF-D Nikkors would be lovely.

Dogman:
Hello from a fellow-almost-a-Luddite.  Like you, I love the old Nikon DSLRs and all Nikkor lenses, old or more recent.  My main cameras are all D700 models although I own a trainload of other models.

Hope you enjoy being a part of the group.  It's a pretty nice bunch of folks.

Bruno Schroder:
Bienvenue à bord. I’m also using old Nikkors, although on digital. Hoping to see your pictures soon.

Thanks for your welcome !

Considering the D1X, even when looking at newer pro cameras, i still regret it : it had a color rendition i never found back on the D2 series i had, and now on my D4 even using customized tone curves.

For the lenses i own, A Tokina 17mm f/3,5 AT-X, a (quite broken) Nikkor 17-35 f/2,8 AF-S sadly beeing replaced by a Nikkor 20-35 f/2,8 AF-D, a Nikkor 28mm PC f/3,5 Ais + 50 and 85 fixed focals f/1,8 AF-D, a 24-70 f/2,8 AF DG Sigma (for the F4s) + a Nikkor 24-70 f/2,8 AF-S, and in the end a 80-200 f/2,8 AF-D (2 rings version) and i must admit i'm happy with that gear !  8)
