The camera body has returned after the inspection.  It turned out to be fully functional, and there is no hint of damage on the body.  I had to buy the lens again, but I found SIGMA 45/2.8 in an AGAN condition for around the half of the price of a brand new one.  So far, so good.

One more happy to know and very good start with the 45mm
Now lets find ways to shoot "out of the box" that does not involve repair shops  ;)

Great news Akira - I think that all of us are pleased for you with this outcome.

And can I take it that the Sigma fp is a pretty tough customer?  :)

Great news Akira.  Congratulations with the Sigma 45/2.8.  Better than the petit Nikkor 45mm?

Thank you, Birna, Jan, Paco, Hugh and John!  Glad you like the image of the declaration of revival.  :D

This tiny 45/2.8 offers an easy handling, which should help me get out of the box!  The fp proved to be a tough camera.  It could be even more durable than Z9?!

The optical performance of the lens is noticeably better than Nikkor 45/2.8P.  Also, it can go closer up to magnification factor of 1:4.  In addition, its size would be almost the same as that of 45/2.8P with the F to L mount adapter.

Paco, you kickstarted the New Year by pushing that venerable D2100 of yours to its limits :)

Meanwhile, I discovered an old and rather dusty camera body, later found a battery and charger for it, and eventually a lens that would fit. Very nice playing around with such limited gear for a while. Makes a refreshing contrast to the razor-sharp Z7 files.
