Thistle of some kind.

Carlina vulgaris, an aptly named thistle [Norwegian 'stjernetistel' == Star Thistle]  :)

That image works well. Placement, use of sharpness and light distribution, overall atmosphera...lovely

Melancholy

You've posted a variety of images over the last few months Karl
I struggle with some of them, but this I really like for all sorts of reasons

Plus I have many growing near my allotment and their seeds have spread into my plot.
They are fast growing and have magnificent but vicious spines on their stalks & leaves if you don't weed them out quickly.
In England, the common name for them is Teasel (Dipsacus fullonum)

I'm enjoying the composition and the limited color palette in this photo.
