Lens smudge, is it possible to clean them ?

Hi.
Well my 60mm 2.8d arrived and it is used one, quite old. And it has I think fungus or dust in it. It does make the picture look hazy.
Is there anyway to remove them ?

This looks definitively as fungus. If it's on the inside elements, the lens needs to be disassembled and cleaned as soon as possible. If it's on the front element, use windows cleaning spray intended for cleaning mirrors etc.

Thank you Birna. I will take it to a Nikon service center.

Would it not be better to return it and buy another? If you bought on ebay, fungus is always a sufficient reason for return.

Getting a lens professionally cleaned can be quite expensive as well. The Micro 60mm f/2.8 is a common enough lens to make it easy to get a better sample.

Seriously consider using this opportunity to return the lens.

I can't return the lens. I bought from a person in one of the classified online groups and he refused to take it back. I paid about USD 200 for this and he had shipped it to me. Anyways, I can't complain now as I had signed for this risk when buying without checking.
I just gave the lens for cleaning at Nikon service center today. In India they charge about USD 20 for cleaning the lens. Let us see if it helps.
Thanks all.

Sorry about your mishap. The seller may have decided to sell it in the classified online group instead of putting up it on ebay because he didn't want to mention the condition of the lens. 200 USD for that lens with fungus is never a bargain.
Hope the extra 20 USD will pay off!

Yeah you got burned!!
But the Fungus looks like that feathery spider web looking fungus, not the etching type. Easy to clean with Hydrogen Peroxide.
I cleaned a rear element of my 135mm f3.5 Nikkor I paid $10.00 at a thrift store with it and it looked like it was never there.
$20.00 is a good price if they get it cleaned up..
