Art imitating life
« on: July 23, 2019, 17:55:53 »
Taken a few years ago in an alley off of Spadina Avenue in the heart of the original Chinatown, here in Toronto.
Normally I don't photograph Graffitti as it is someone else's art, and more important, so much of it is badly done, but in this case, I thought the subject matter was so timely and well done that I grabbed this shot.
motorized Nikon FA
Tamron SP 35-105 2.8 AIS manual focus
Fuji 100 ISO colour slide
5.6 @ 1/1000th
I shoot with film. That's film. F...i...l...m. You remember film. It was in all the papers.

This is great. I just glanced at it at first and didn't find it too interesting, but when I looked at it closer and saw that the graffiti artists were painted on, my interest level went way up.

Arthur,
Thanks for commenting.
I'd like to think that your explanation is the reason no one else here over the last month has bothered about this shot.

Sorry Robert - I too have missed this one.  Yes it is subtle, featuring the graffiti artists themselves (also known as taggers here in Australia).

Maybe this image is a variation on the other NG thread called "Photographers in Action"?

Hugh,
Thanks for commenting. Glad you like it.
I really expected this shot to get more comments, but then I've always been a really poor judge of other's reactions to my photos.
