Cape Point Nature Reserve
« on: August 31, 2015, 21:34:45 »
Cape Point Nature Reserve is Part of the Table Mountain National Park. It is huge and  more than 20km from the entrance to the Point. We made it 200 meter into the Park before we stopped. And we didnt leave for a while....
Needless to say we didn't get very far that day  - as the two men with me got stuck. If that place is your thing - you can spend a week there.

So did you also run into big tortoises that go after your shoelaces?
That's my memory from 1992 -:)

Elsa, I enjoy the wide variety of animals, ranging from a bee to a bug and to a polar bear.  :D

Thanks guys - that BIF is my favourite shot of the day too - but only because I find it a funny shot - not a good shot  ;D ;D ;D

B. and Adcock discussing technicalities :)

looks like the site had recently been set to fire, which happens
almost too frequently, supposedly to fight fire with fight.
A more plausible reason is to fertilize the soil with ashes,
(which are high in potash).

Fons, we have wild fires every couple of years  - they are not controlled fires, but much needed and very important.
