I've never seen or know such unique birds.  Thank you for sharing.  Apparently, your skill for shooting dancers applies wonderfully here.  Hope you won't get infected with GAS.

On the other hand, the 70-300mm gives a good portrayal of how the birds relate to each other in their environment.

The birds and their colours are most interesting.

Is there a 500mm or 600mm around the corner?

(Actually the 200-500mm works well - well mine has at any rate.)

Armando, very nice  . As an action shooter I really like the last one.  Interesting , I have seen many Roseate Spoonbills on the net recently.   Many with more recognized 'birding' lenses (400mm +).   Seems to me that in bright , harsh light it is tough to get great feather detail.  Your light seems to be better.  Well done.

I was watching the histograms of the red channel avoiding the highlights to be blown. Maybe my processing is to dark ?

A longer lens has been in my wish list for quite some time now, just never find a way to justify it

B&H have the Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6E lens at $US1,400.  Not sure how that would translate as a landed price to Mexico once taxes and postage is calculated.  Or maybe a Tamron or a Sigma?

70-300 VR via FT1 on your V1 could be more justifiable?

The 200-500 is currently on sale in amazon mexico ...  but no, not right now

Akira the combination of the 70-300 with FT1 on the V1 will work for still shots, but can be awfully frustrating with it's lack of responsiveness and/or slooow focus hunting even in bright sunlight, I have tried using it to catch surfers who hold a photogenic action for a few seconds and this combo will still miss the action, it simple does not have the "right now" response needed to catch some actions from birds or really anything , so I rather crop from the D800 files than from nothing on the V1.

Okay, you already have the combo.  I could have expected the result.  Well, then time for GAS...
