During the last wildlife workshop at the marsh, a great confusion
came up. "It's the same bird" most said, others thought it must be
a hybrid, and a few didn't know at all.
This collage serves the purpose to clarify the differences between
these cute girls of both the
Wood Duck and the
Mandarine Duck.
Their bodies are quite similar in size and coloration but the greatest
differences are in their respective "makeup": eyes, cheeks, throat
and bill. The girl on the left is the Mandarine.
The drakes, however, are so strikingly different and spectacular that
no confusion is possible.
