Sinking loon - or the benefits of adjustable buoyancy
« on: February 03, 2018, 16:06:54 »
This adult loon was imaged several years ago in northern Michigan.  He had just popped up from underwater, and was still in low buoyancy mode.  They have remarkable skills at trimming their buoyancy to the circumstances.  When chicks are being fed, the parents body is often almost submerged, to get the food item down to the chicks level.  They make it look so effortless.  Would make any submariner envious.

Full frame, with canvas added to the right

Advice and comments always appreciated.

Cheers

Stunning.  What does "canvas added to the right" mean?

Beautiful image, fantastic greens

Ron , adding canvas in PS means adding space to an image and the filling it in, personally I use it to improve the composition getting a subject off center

Thanks guys:

Appreciate your input.

Ron - I try to frame carefully, but when shooting at ~850mm and the bird pops up unexpectedly, you do the best you can!
