Winter in Scotland
« on: December 17, 2017, 20:33:50 »
This year we seem to be having a proper winter, which is a very nice change after 3 years of no winter at all - just cold, wet miserable weather. This year in Killin we have had snow on the ground for almost 2 weeks, night-time temperatures down to -12c and daytime down to -4.

There has also been lots of sunshine which has enabled me to shoot a few pictures - here's a selection -

1) to 3) Loch Tulla and The Blackmount
4) The north-east ridge of the Clach Leachad (Blackmount)
5) Jackdaws over Beinn Ghlas, Killin
6) Another ridge on The Blackmount
7) Ben Dorain and Ben Odhar (distant)
8.  Craig an Fhitich, The Blackmount
9) Meall a' Churain, Glen Dochart

Beautiful pictures, you have done it again :)
You also live a very nice place, but you get the best of it, not all mortals will be able to see it the way you do.

So long as you can withstand the cold, your place looks like a landscape photographer's heaven...  Love the lighting in most of the images.

Looks like you have had a couple of days of crisp, clear weather - and you have made the most of it!

I especially like #8 - the sunny patch on the snowy knoll is quite striking.

Thank you for your kind posts - Bent, Akira, Mike and Simone.

There was a typo in my original post - snow has been here for nearly 2 weeks, not 3; I have corrected it.

I was lucky to have skies of mostly broken cloud, which creates really beautiful lighting, esp. on snow scenes.

Beautiful pictures - and such a different landscape compared to our stay in May!
Thanks for sharing these photos, Dave.
