The Star Mill was an active flour mill from the late 1890's until 1979. For several years, it was owned by a fellow who called it an Antique store, although even he admitted that it was really a "junk" shop. Before June 2014 it was one of my favorite places to photograph, since the owner was an avid junk collector. During the winter time he was somewhere almost every day finding new treasures and putting them on and around the front porch. That meant that there were endless photo opportunities! He lost the place in 2014. These three photos show the mill as 1) a junk store, 2) after all the contents of the store were emptied and the new owner started the process of cleaning and saving the building, and 3) what it looks like today. The owner runs several businesses out of his building. He did attempt to keep most of the mill inside as well as adding an office wing done in true wood siding.
The building faces, east and I love to photograph it just as the sun illuminates the front of the building.
