Invited - brought my camera

I got invited to my niece's wedding, I see them very rarely but still I was able to shoot a little bit, trying to stay away from the hired photographer

The bride
50mm (only lens I brought) @f/4 , cropped as I had the central focus point on her face, in the original didn't got her feet, and it has a lot of space above

My respect for the photographers that shoot weddings increased significantly

Getting a good timed shot was difficult, the ceremony was different to what I'm used to and again not being the hired photographer I did not want to intrude

After the ceremony I found a spot with interesting light , first I took a photo of my wife, after she saw it she decided she wanted a photo of the couple in the same spot,  it was a bit difficult to get them to spend 30 seconds without guests talking to them or taking photos with their mobile

Your niece and her husband are sure to treasure these images. Probably more so because you are family.  Long after the commercial photographer's images are forgotten, her Uncle's pictures will connect with her.

Armando, I agree with Bill .  When I first viewed the image my immediate thought was what happened to the left arm but then inspected more closely and realized the bridal gown had sleeves.  The sleeves do not work that well for images and particularly since she has such nice skin.  Best wishes to the happy couple.

Wedding photographers do have a tough time brought into themselves and by the alleged photographers masters and workshops.

A wedding is a mixture of an Event - People and Portraits. They each have their own singularity. The photographer cannot physically shoot such different set ups. The solution was to get a second photographer and as pride has it, the second photographer is of lower calibre so not to compete with the main photographer and there lie in the mistake. Add to that, the video crew and hundreds of mobile phones.

The proper approach is to have one/two photographers for the standard pictures and a more artistic photographer picking the moments which is what Armando did with the first sweet pic.

Yes it cost more and yes the main photographer will be pissed off and simply don't call him the main photographer but Team A and Team B of equal importance.
