Through a glass darkly

Taken earlier this summer at Nathan Phillip's Square in front of the New City Hall here in Toronto.
There is a textured glass surface that stands off the wall on pins of a building on the square, and I noticed a reflection of the square and the skyline mirrored in the glass. Liking the surreal effect caused by the vertically running lines in the glass surface, I took this shot.
Converted to black and white in Photoshop.

Interesting, among other things because of the curves seen on (or rather through?) the glass panes. The panes clearly show vertical lines, broad and narrow, but I wonder where the curves come from. Other elements are also difficult to locate in space (the stairs on the right), while some are more obvious (the photographer himself on the left ?)

Next time I'm down there, I'll check the glass for the curves.

I think if the big bolts were not in the image the buildings will appear to be seen through a curtain

Indeed, the relatively low contrast of the shot (despite Fuji 100 slides being rather contrasty) gives the scene a pleasant softness.
