Carnival 2017 in Bonn
« on: March 02, 2017, 17:24:17 »
Carnival 2017 in Bonn (full set): https://www.flickr.com/photos/ngudu/sets/72157677313649654/

Attached are some highlights from the set.

I took a lot of risks, shot most of it with the 105E at f/1.4.

I also did not check the configuration of the D600 properly if at all, so the camera behaved differently than expected.

I wonder if the face detection AF worked properly.  Nice and enjoyable series!

Nothing face detection. I had it all configured wrong after a repair and I tried some new to me mode. My bad.

Plus: Group shots at f/1.4 and 105mm on FX cannot deliver a all faces sharp result. Does the D600 have face detection AF?

But I took this and a lot of others, where f/1.4 really did a nice job to get anything but "just another picture"

This shot really stand out. Marvelous Frank (or may be 105/1.4  ;D).

If you look at the 243 results I feel I did a good job.

And there are a lot of shots still to be developed.

The 1.4/105E is a wonderful tool. But is it the brush that paints or the painter?

I feel photography is all about decisions

It is indeed you Frank, not the tool.

Very nice series Frank!

Your images are interesting and delightful to view.

The also demonstrate the wonderful characteristics of the 105E in a way that will cause many of us to want one  8)

Bill. Yes. The 105E was my Christmas gift and I did use it a lot since it arrived early in December.

I am happy with the decision. Now I like to have a body that drives it as reliably as the D500 drives the 1.4/24G
