I went to a water puppet theater out in the countryside on my way back to Hanoi from Ha Long Bay.  In addition to the 9 puppeteers there were 3 musicians, an announcer, plus staff putting out snacks.

Beautiful colours and street scenery. I was in Halong Bay recently. It would have been great to visit Hanoi too.
Did you visit Ho Chi Minh /Saigon too? If so, are the cities similar or very different?

That's a hard question to answer.  I definitely did not have enough time in Hanoi.  I think it is more traditional than Saigon.
