New irix 45mm

Coming soon...according to irix's own web pages (where I took the picture from).
Interesting that Tamron and now irix are making more true (36x24) normal lenses.

Hmm...I wonder if no one except for Cosina/Voigtländer is interested in designing a 40-45mm/f2.0-2.8 pancake using today's technology?

Since I got the 16mm fisheye from Bob - All I want is small lenses. So weird since it never bothered me at all

Strange.  I wonder if it will have something up it's sleeves to differentiate it from the wide variety of excellent fast ~50s.

Wouldn't they just pass through the lens(and everything else in the universe) :D

I remember many years ago reading that a neutrino was the closest thing something can get to nothing, without actually being nothing.

So, in effect this coating is pretty much nothing! :p

I'd be all over that if it had great IQ wide open and wasn't too long.  Favorite lens on my D800 is the 45/2.8 which is great in the central 2/3rds of the image wide open and just fine at f/5.6.  Wish it was just fine at f/2.8 :)

Canon EF 40/2.8 can be such one, so long as you get a good sample.  I briefly used it with 5D MkIII, but my sample smeared on the 15-20% in the right-hand side when focused at distance.
