Greetings! From the Land Down Under!
« on: October 05, 2016, 10:23:32 »
Hi everyone! My name is Daniel and I am from the land down under, sunburnt country or Australia, whatever you like to call it!

I love photography of many kinds, however my prime focus is macro and landscapes, as the username suggests! Macro especially, which cured my fear of many insects and arthropods. Now I play with those spiders rather than kicking them out of the house! And trust me, stereotypes are very true here, my bedroom shelters 3 spiders.

I am currently working on the equipment for my university capstone project, which is going to be a photomacrographic-rig of some sort. I was very very lucky to score a nice Ultra-Micro-Nikkor 28mm f/1.8 M=1/10E off ebay for an extremely cheap price. Here's a quick example of what the lens can produce:

Not the best stack in the world, but good for 50 photos and the most unprofessional imaginable setup. Using textbooks and a DIY linear translation stage with rough lighting. The legs are blurry which tells me that I need to take more photos for the stake. PS would be better for stacking too... more control over masking layers. Oh well, all just a test! And I didn't have to murder that innocent moth (before it murders itself by banging onto lights).

Look forward to seeing yall around! I am also directly in touch with the engineer at Laowa (Venus Optics), so I may bring out some surprises!  ;)

Ultra-Micro-Nikkor 28mm f/1.8 M = 1/10 e-line Version by Daniel Han, on Flickr

Here it is! Note that I stamped out the 1 tiny ding on the front element.
This lens has optimal performance at f2~f4, where the dot will not show up anyway. Box and certificate was also included :)

Hi Daniel, looks as if you will be right at home here.  I was sort of expecting a Funnel Web with a 28mm macro  ;) .  Welcome  :)
Edit: looks as if Roland could use a photo of your lens for his great Database .

Welcome to NG. There are several owners of Ultra-Micro-Nikkors here, including yours truly. (amongst others I do have the 28/1.8 ).
