Frozen Bow river and Castle Mountain - an old slide revisited

Banff National Park, shot on Provia at end of December 2005.
I had the scan there but only now decided to work on it for fun.

The black and white version came as a bonus and I tend to prefer it over the colour version.

Very nice winter scene.  I would have liked the bush and the hemispherical snow clot in the foreground to be a bit off-center, although they give a pleasant depth to the image.

So far as this particular scene is concerned, I would prefer the color version: the bluish hue over the frozen water enhances the coldness and serenity of the scene.

Great depth.  I find the cold-blue a bonus and enhances the atmosphere in this case.

This was shot relatively shortly after I had developed an interest in photography - more or less two years.
My compositional choices were often a bit unrefined and many of my photos from then are rubbish.
However occasionally I find one I still like, as this one.
In this particular case I don't have any qualms about composition, I still like the long grass where it is rather than slightly decentred.

Jakov, this was shot on the layby of a motorway - the TransCanada Highway. 

I have just printed both and am undecided about which one I like best; one might and up on some wall until something else displaces it (limited wall space)
