Nikon DF with some older lenses (image heavy)
« on: July 08, 2016, 14:35:48 »
After scaling down my Nikon kit, I realized that I only have fast zooms and one prime left.  The Nikon Df is my all time favorite camera to use for everyday carry or general shooting use.   I wanted to get some smaller in size lenses that I could keep with me but also not spend a lot of money on them.

Went to the local camera store and they had a few options.  For under $200, I was able to get the Nikon 35-135/3.5-4.55.6(for general one lens use) and a 70-210/4-5.6(for use with my 28-85/3.5-4.5 when I want a 2 lens option).

Very happy with them, even though they are the push-pull variety of lenses. I find the IQ just what I like and the sizes fit nicely into my Lowepro transit 250 sling bag.

Here are some examples:

***Edited to correct aperture range on 35-135 lens listed above***

Apparently they work splendidly for you.

A nit-pick: the 35-135, if a Nikkor, has to be f/3.5-4.5. It came in manual and AF versions, similar in size, but very different optically.

Not a nitpick, but a good catch/correction.  Thank you for that.

Both lenses are the AF versions, but not "D".   They work great for my intended purpose, that is for sure.

I know your work for a long time now and I do not see any lens you can not make shine. It is your eyes, hands and experience!
You are out there. You and your camera. You can shoot or not shoot as you please. Discover the world, Your world. Show it to us. Or we might never see it.

Andrew, quite a selection, great.  I particularly like the Lady Artist and the guy working on his bike.   I just picked up a mint 50 1.8 E , mint 100 2.8 E and Konica Hex 40 f2 for under $200.  Bought them for the Sony a7II (for size and weight) but they will obviously make it to the Df also  ;) .  Most of the time I shoot the Sony and Df in tandem  :)
Cheers,
Tom
