The funniest part was the follow-up. A group of baboons in a nearby tree started laughing at the lion, probably something like "Call yourself the King of the Jungle, ha ha!". The lion was really angry, walked up to the tree and let out a terrific roar ("Shut the **** up"). The baboons immediately stopped.
When we returned to the scene later on in the evening the lioness had relented, and domestic harmony was restored.
