The salient point is that any lens is a compromise between conflicting considerations.

The better question is whether the prospective buyers have their requirements answered by a given lens and its supported features.

With the introduction of the IF technology, Nikon solved some problems and added others.

this lens is pretty sharp wide open (this pic is at 5.6) but i find that i am getting blurred shots due to the lack of a monopod. I will use a monopod next time

as expected from lenses of the same era, the coatings aren't doing a great job suppressing highlight bloom. but the results are still pretty acceptable

both were shot with the D7200 (i use DX to test telephotos) so the results should be better on FX where it's more forgiving.
