AF fine tuning and identical Nikkor lenses...
« on: April 18, 2016, 03:20:23 »
"List previously saved AF tuning values. If you are using more than one lens of the same type, you can add an identifier to the lens name (for example, the last two digits of the lens serial number)." --Nikon NPS

I could swear I once had two AF 28-70/3.5-4.5D Nikkors listed in with my D800. Now I have a pair of these again as well as two AF 35-105/3.5-4.5D Nikkors. Generally I'll keep one each with my D800 and also one each with my D300. If I carry both cameras I've got a problem as these lenses require slightly different AF fine tuning.

I thought the firmware in lenes encluded the lens serial number. Now that I'm guessing the firmware does not include the lens' serial number. I haven't found any information regarding this issue. I hope someone can enlighten me.

Hi Dave,

as i know there is just a model number. Some users of Tamron lenes have the same as me with my two samyang lenses: They have all the same correction as there ist only ONE model number.... ;)

That's what I was afraid of. I'll have to mark the lenses for the D300s so I don't use them on the D800. I think the D800 needs to be calibrated. It's not among the early serial numbers that had the left side problem. It just back focuses everything.

Dave.
