By the way, my Ai 20/4.0 is extremely comfortable to focus manually thanks to the long focus throw, well lubricated focus ring and its inherent large DOF.  The "green dot" of my D750 calibrated at Nikon service is completely reliable.

About a week ago I received an AF-S 105/2.8G ED VR Micro, AF-S 50/1.8G and today an AF-S 20/1.8G ED. I believe I'm going to be pleased with all three. I hope to buy one more lens before the rebates end. It might be an AF-S 28/1.8G ED or perhaps a zoom.

Thank you all for your advice on the wide angle lenses.

The same applies for my sample on the Df and D800E
