Any thoughts from anyone about Capture One?

Said to be good, recent improvements I am told make it a contender.

I have chosen the Adobe route since Bibble went.  I feel processing software is a bit like driving down a congested Motorway (Freeway?) deciding which lane to go in is a bit of a lottery BUT, I rarely chose the 'fast' lane because usually it's anything but fast, very often the 'slow' lane gets you there with the least fuss in the end.

Bjørn is right. You need some time to get used to any new software but that is not the whole story.

The Xtrans Sensor Files behave very differently when it comes to rendering color  contrast and sharpening. Just try to edit a Nikon JPEG in parallel to a Fuji JPEG of the same scene. Use curves and unsharp mask, even the Auto Setting to see how
they affect the pictures differently.

I treated myself one year ago with the X100T and have since learned to process Fuji files as well as Nikon files
in PhotoNinja.

Most important for me was to import with completely neutral settings as default. Even the "smart lighting"
In factory pesets can ruin the first impression.

I think I'll give PhotoNinja a try to see the difference. How does PN handle the Nikon RAW files? Adobe Camera Raw has quite a few adjustments for Nikon files with its database of lens types. And the files seem to need it. The Fuji lenses don't seem to need as much correction.

*Very* well in fact. The NEFs just fly through with almost nothing left for me to do with them.

Quite on the contrary, I am not unhappy with Photoshop/ Lightroom (using the X-100S now and then).
Whichever converter you use, it'l take some practice in order to produce good results, though.

Your mileage might vary, though. De gustibus non est disputandum.
