A few years ago I started documenting the date of first bloom in the garden. Today is Rosa Gallica's day.

I used to have a collection of period or vintage rose, many gallicas , albas etc, had to get rid of them at one time for lack of space.
From that one-time collection i still have Rosa alba "Madame Legras de Saint-Germain ".
Still enjoy the old charm of them
is the Gallica not a bit late?

Hi Fons,

yes, the Gallica is a bit late but we are at the bottom of a valley and the garden is cooler than usual. We are always late compared to the gardens 500m away, all higher.

Too bad you had to get rid of your collection. Rosa Alba is well represented here with Semi Plena in 5 or 6 spots. They are now in full bloom and pushing their perfume all over the place.

Love the Rosa Gallica. Perfect lighting and Background, 3D-rendering of the most important aspects. Applause.

Thank you Frank and Lance. I usually find my own flower pictures quite boring but this time, I remembered someone (can't find his name back) on NG took excellent flower pictures with a long lens so I tried the 80-400 at 400mm and was pleasantly surprised by the result.
