Down Town Lacombe

Took out the 85 1.8g for the night photographing some of the older streets around here in Alberta Canada

Evidently this 85 is well suited for this kind of architectural photography. What camera?

From a pictorial point of view, I think it is important that a night scene be slightly on the darker side, though. Otherwise we might believe it was done on a dull day in daylight. Thus, a little more contrast and shadows ever so slightly more darker will do the trick. Including some light trails from passing cars helps too.

If I had to choose between the two versions, I would prefer the colour one because it to me conveys more impact of the scenery. The nocturnal mood is less present in the b/w image.

I agree with Bjørn - the sky especially should be darker to show the mood of darkness

Thank you for the insight, the time at which the photograph was taken I was more or less planning out the location of the setup. when the time came to take the photo there was a truck parked in the way of the shot.
I have other taken in the light I was looking for but not at the location I wanted. That's life when you're behind the camera.
