Hi Gary,

I am not Jacques but am touched nonetheless.
This looks like a brand new flag, hopefully it will serve in happier times as well.

There is a bond between us. Your grief and pain is our grief and pain. The homeowner's name is Chavez. I may follow suit. Last night the City of Los Angeles had a candle vigil to express our solidarity with Paris. A Californian was killed in the violence. Her name was Nohemi Gonzales. She grew up in Whittier, a few miles to the north of me. She was a study-abroad student attending California State University Long Beach.

Fluctuat Nec Mergitur... by ArchiVue, sur Flickr 24-85mm VR and Df.

This one was on a ground floor window in a street in Paris...
I sympathise with your loss of a fellow Californian student. It's a weird time for all of us. Thanks for all those thoughts, we will need them.
This time the french flag is used not as a symbol of nationalism but in it's original meaning of liberty (the colors of Paris blue and red surrounding the royal color white in 1789).
Let's hope that this madness will stop soon enough...

I hope so too. It is a very strange world. And scary how easy it is to get people to follow others.

My thoughts are with all innocent victims of violence and terror.
