Parenthèse
« on: September 19, 2015, 17:16:14 »
"Parenthèse" means bracket, in the typographic sense, and also means "break" or "pause" in French usage. It is the title of a short (20') ballet by Laureline Mialon, choreographer and ballerina. The first performance took place today in a small place. Using the 14-24 (generally close to 24, sometimes with cropping) plus the PC-E 45 "straight" was adequate. The Df was also the camera of choice because it is relatively less noisy, acoustically and electronically.

The complete series are on Behance, in three versions (color, BW standard with red filter, BW high contrast with yellow to blue filters) : http://www.behance.net/AiryM

Here is an example, which may perhaps be more of the moody type than photographically convincing. Please also note that this was a public performance where I had to remain as discreet as possible - not moving, not giving directions.

I think I prefer the "normal " contrasted ones... :-) But it looks like it was really a tiny space (and a corner). You did a wonderful job with those pictures !!! :-)

Tiny indeed, and 8 chairs for attendees (plus some standing space). But that contributed to the intimate atmosphere, in line with the choreography. "Square dance", so to say.

Thanks John, Elsa, and Peter. John, I have indeed been criticized (and sidetracked) for making portraits rather than "standard" ballet shots. Ballet masters usually prefer static poses and group shots. Here (given the FL restrictions - 45 mm at most) I did not misbehave, for a change.

Despite the 'circumstances' you did manage to get close to 'portraits' which I like.
