Flower market - India
« on: September 17, 2015, 14:30:49 »
My city has quite a few flower markets. These are markets where people buy flowers for festivals and on a daily basis as well. It is custom in many religions in India to offer flowers in front of idols during daily prayer. And today being a festival day they were busier than usual.
These markets are unique in their own way. Some people were friendly while photographing them and some were not so much. Nonetheless, it was very colorful.

I went out with a 35mm and 50mm prime. Unfortunately it was a very cloudy morning and D200 doesn’t do very well in high ISO. But what the heck! I still had fun shooting.

As always critics are most welcome!

#1. The market on a street which is busy already. Post 9am they move away from the main street to their usual shops which is next door.

35mm 1.8

#2. These markets sell flowers, various leaves/herbs and typical fruits used in festivals.

#3. Temple priest. He gets free flowers from almost every shop.

#4.

#5. Can you feel how loud this place was?

#6.

#7. Banana leaves and stem are essential for festivals.

#8. So as banana, they are essential too..

Thank you for fixin' the links.

Another series that makes me travel by the picture, It feels I can smell what I see which is a good sign.

Also I like it that you did not overstylize the shots, but keep them down to earth and real lifeish.

my absolute favorites in the great series are the young guys by the motor cycle in such lively exchange and the "banana boys". Wonderful damped colours.

Thank you

Aha... Great pictures :-) With a 105mm or 135mm you could start getting a feeling in portraits ! :-)
These markets have a great smell of flowers !

I'd love to. Lot's of people around me, brothers, sister, daughter, several friends, did it but the timing was never possible for me to join. I guess it will eventually happen.
