I can't argue with your assessment re the P51's sound.  Moreover, the P51 is also the most beautiful WWII fighter IMHO.

The image most realistically portrays the plane in flight - if only the machine guns were firing.  (On the other hand if the machine guns were firing we may not have you with us any longer, so I guess we cannot have everything!  )

Somnath, thank you. I am a bit ambivalent about watermarks. On the one hand, they do deface the photo, but on the other, if they do not cut across some part of the subject, they are so easily removed. However, perhaps I need to develop a few more pre-sets with the watermark in different locations.

Hugh, I must be honest, I like the Spittie even more. But we have no flying examples of those left here.

However, it seems that even in the land of the free this is now illegal. They are apparently allying for a waiver, but it is subject to a public vote...

There are places here in SA where one can get a flight in certain vintage aircraft, but nothing as exotic as a Spittie or a Mustang, best I could hope for is a T6, Tiger Moth or maybe a Pitts Special. However, even these are at a price I am not prepared to pay. So I guess I will keep on taking photos and dreaming. But since I suffer from air-sickness, probably the dream is better than the reality...

IMHO there can be no doubt that the Supermarine Spitfire is the most beautifull airplane out of WWII - with the sound of the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 it is as sweet as it gets.

This is one area where DSLR video is not yet good enough (or I am not good enough at using it). I tried filming a couple of passes, but with the sun on the LCD, I just couldn't keep it in sight.

Just to solve your dilemma. It took me literally 10 seconds to remove your sig, it is super easy. It does not matter if it cuts across the subject or not. You can do it much more cleanly if you take more time. Something like 5 minutes
