Nikon F3 Used in Hollywood
« on: March 16, 2016, 02:16:02 »
Here's some footage I put together from individual sources showing how Industrial Light & Magic used a pretty much stock-standard Nikon F3 to film part of the movie 'Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom' using the stop-motion technique.

Absolutely fascinating !!

Mongo never would have guessed in a hundred years that that sequence of movie was shot with a slightly modified still camera (it was just shooting stills at the rate of 1/second).

Some of the footage I've used is sourced from a 1984 documentary by NOVA titled 'The Magic of Special Effects'.
Could that be the show you're thinking of?

i have always loved practical effects. that got me into scale modelling, which got me into photography, which got me into CGI and animation, which got me into programming  :o :o :o one thing leads to another

Wow! I guess they will be using slightly updated cameras for the new movie they just announced: http://arstechnica.com/the-multiverse/2016/03/disney-announces-new-indiana-jones-movie-with-harrison-ford/
