Hello from Germany,
« on: July 29, 2024, 16:10:04 »
I am Juergen, freelance Photographer from southwest Germany.

my personal Nikon history started almost 50 years ago with a Nikkormat FT2. Next step up was a Nikon F2. Back in analog times most of my professional stuff was done with middle format Mamiya RZ or Sinar 4x5“, so Trusty F2, together with some siblings (one for Polaroid tests), accompanied me until into the new millenium. No AF, no exposure automatic, no zoom lenses, heavy Gitzo; as old-fashioned as you could get.

Year 2000 came and so the Nikon D1, followed by a D200. Full format D700 was a revelation: old MF Nikkors were useable again and as a result I built up a collection of used MF Nikkors from 15 to 500mm, strictly following the ratings on Birna’s naturfotograf site.
After the D800 I thought this camera together with D700 would stay with me as a kind of „last equipment“.

For me the Z cameras were almost a step as big as the transfer from F2 to D1. Bright viewfinder, 100% view with MF lenses, no hassle with high ISO. First Z was a Z6, then lovely Zfc and last but not at all least the Zf. With the Zf I almost get that Nikkormat feeling again…

I have been reading along on NikonGear site for some time, and so I decided to become NG supporter since I was very impressed by the friendly tone and manners of the members.

Welcome to NG Jürgen.  One of the nicer sites IMHO.

Yes, the Nikkormat FT2 was a nice camera - you show two I see.

My first Nikon was a chrome FTn Nikkormat in 1974, followed by a new old stock black FT3 Nikkormat in 1983.  Both still work, including meters. The lens on the Ftn was a 50mm f/1.4 SC, which has since been both AI'ed and chipped.  It turned 50 in March this year!  :)

Nice Nikon collection. I only occasionally used Nikkormats, however have owned everything else of the cameras deppicted. 'Macho' csmera #1 is undeniably a black Bikon F :)

And of course, welcome to NG. Even more so by joining the ranks of supporters.

At the time of "Blow Up", I used a black Nikon F with a non-metering black pentaprism finder.  Not sure I have the camera today as some gear was stolen back in the '70s, and replaced in general by F2 bodies. There are still a few F cameras in a cupboard somewhere.
