I purchased my first Z7 late 2018, and another a few months later. Both were intended for my photomacrographic and studio/focus stacking work, and apart from a "burn-in" week to familiarise myself with the camera where it was used outdoors, both units have never left my studio since. I run them on A/C and they just perform day in and day out, no issues at all. I see no need to update either unless it breaks down, and in that case, probably would replace it with a similar model.

I will be selling my Z6, it has a scary shutter count.  ;D
99.9% of the time, this was used in silent shooting mode, so the shutter is as good as new despite that large figure.  I am unsure how to price it.

For just photography, the Z7 would be the best choice.  The Z7II offers barely any extra and the Z8/Z9 has a lower dynamic range and higher low ISO read noise due to the stacked sensor.
I think you made the right decision.

Macro_Cosmos, I understand that some of the free websites that are used to calculate shutter count do NOT count the electronic shutter counts.  They only record the mechanical shutter count.

You might want to identify other sites that provide free shutter count service, and upload a recent jpg image file and see what you get.   It's possible one site comes back with only 644 (or such) shutter clicks.  Then you only need to report that number to potential buyers.

When potential buyers ask for shutter clicks, they only are interested in the "mechanical" shutter click number.  Electronic shutter actuations do not result in wear to the shutter, so knowledgeable buyers should not be concerned with the number of electronic shutter actuations (I know I'm not).

Thanks all for your comments!  I ended up buying a used, Z7 for around $1200 USD  (https://www.ebay.com/itm/276517227192).

I didn't choose the Z7ii because:  1) it was about $600 more expensive than the Z7 I bought, and 2) the Z7ii really didn't have any additional features that were important to my style of photography.

Why upgrade?  I currently use my Z6 for both stills and videos.  I wanted higher resolution for some of my stills than the Z6 can provide.  Now that I have the Z7, I will exclusively use my Z6 to make YouTube videos in my studio.  The Z7 will be used only on a tripod for still images that require great detail.

Congratulations to your new acquisition. It was a wise one. In case you bought a Z6II you'd had your Z6 as a backup but not much added value. now with the Z7 you have added a high-resolution camera and still can take the Z6 when it is more favorable (high iso situations). The Z6/7 II upgrades brought a second memory card (because critics buried the first versions for just having one) and an improved AF-system which was still insufficient for fas action.

The II versions also introduced a card door that is much too easy to open by mistake. I do it all the time on my Z6II :-(

If it’s in the exif, Phil Harvey’s tool will show it. You’ll have to search through the list but if it’s recorded, it will be there : https://exiftool.org/
