Voigtlander NOKTON 55mm f/1.2
« on: February 22, 2023, 22:15:57 »
Announced: new Voigtlander NOKTON 55mm f/1.2 SLIIs lens for Nikon F-mount

Another lens with classic Nikkor styling. It has 7 elements in 6 groups without mention of any special ED or aspherical lenses so is probably a normal double-gauss design. I wonder how it compares to their NOCTON 58mm f/1.4 or the Nikon AIS 50/1.2.

Sigma also announced that their three APS-C f/1.4 primes to Z-mount: 16/1.4, 30/1.4 and 56/1.4.

Interesting.

The news hasn't yet posted on Cosina's official website.  I'm looking forward to see the cross-section of the optical design to see (if possible) how they could put the contact to this f1.2 lens.  :)

Thank you for sharing!

This is what I found in the net - haven't seen anything about the aperture geometry though - the optical design is similar to their Nokton 58mm f/1.4

Here in Japan, the lens will hit the shelf in May.

Nice -- but that is the existing 58/1.4, yes?

I have it for my Df and it is a really good performer, pus the workmanship is admirable. It's really pleasant to handle lenses built in this manner.

My original Nokton (the one for the Prominent) has a cemented pair at the front which is liable to start splitting (but mine is fine). The peculiar mount with compur central shutter behind plus focussing mechanism in the camerabody has prevented me from getting a cheap adapter, so except for film where it works fine, no chance to really put it through its paces, Reputedly its f2 Ultron brother is better (=sharper&more contrasty).

Yes Birna, this is the existing 58mm Nokton which I bought last week. With silver nose it matches perfectly the FM2. Will also test it on the Z6ii with FTZ and will show a few photos.
