I was given a strange lens, see picture. I think it has been a lens in an industrial device. Anyone who have any ideas? And can I use it for some photographic fun?

The lens is for thermal IR thus no visible light passes through. Not even the near IR which we can record with our cameras.
You need a thermal camera
