Nikon MC-N10 Remote Grip

Just received the new Nikon MC-N10 Remote Grip for the Nikon Z family of cameras.

So far, this is nothing but useful. I have rosettes for it to attach  to my video video-rig with 15mm extension rodss, and as you can see here, I have it clamped to a RRS tripod. It connects by a USB-C to USB-C cable, and I have several lengths. I could just as easily hold it in my hand, clamp it to a chair, or run it a good distance away.

It's like holding the camera in one hand and not messing with the camera on the tripod. At around $427, it is not overly expensive and very useful. I will use it a lot and think of new and better ways and things to attach it to.

Having to attach it to the camera is the weak point, as those holes in camera bodies are designed to fail. As much as hate Bluetooth, I think this is a good candidate for it.

Here is an iPhone photo of the MC-N10 Remote on a video rig. It's a little hard to see, sorry. The rig goes on my shoulder, the remote in my right hand, a vertical handle in my left (under the rig), and my eye either to the view or the screen at whatever distance I want it at. As you can see, I offset the camera so I can bring the camera right up to my eye. Anyway, looks complicated but simple in use. Also works great for stills for controlled shooting without a tripod.
