There is a lot to like here and a bit that is hard to understand for me.

Is there a way to de-emphasize the sky a bit and leave the strong arc structure in place?

please use your imagination or better see as it is no need to explain a picture into oblivion

if you had taken a look,

there is but a touch of shadow lifiting in image 1

in images #2#3  ps shadow/ highlight  was applied for compositional reasons,

pp seems to be a dirty word,

well never mind
