Black Backed Jackal

After a good afternoon game drive we stopped for a sun downer, when this jackal approached us and lied down a few meters away, probably waiting for us to leave so it could scavenge for any crumbs it could find.

Beautiful creature — and beautifully shot too!

Jackals seem to be unafraid of us but the ones in Etosha were no good at telling me the way home to my lodging when I have lost my way at midnight and the only other creature awake in the camp was a Jackal.
