Z50 + AIS 24/2

On a walk at the local area I decided to try out an AIS 24/2 on Z50. Aperture was set to 5.6 to get high contrast and resolution.
It is a nice and sharp lens. I see no CA on images.

Last two images are shot with the 16-50 kit lens set to 50mm.
This lens is nice and compact and has built-in VR which is not in the Z50 body.

This image is also with AIS 24/2 where a 100% is added to evaluate sharpness of lens.

I just overhauled one. it seems to be a fine lens even at f/2

I have not checked yet what the lens can do at f2. It has been sitting on the shelf for years since I got it.
I once had the AFD 24/2.8 which I never really liked so when I got a 17-35/2.8 I sold the AFD 24/2.8. Then I regarded the 17-35/2.8 as my "24 mm lens".
The AIS 24/2 looks like it is a class above the old AF version.

Manual 24mm f/2 AI/AIS (and previous versions) are great lenses. I had 2 versions : an old AUTO and the AI version. Both as sharp and sold a while ago when I got the great 24-105mm Sigma Art (also sold).

I have still the f/2.8 AUTO version which needs grease.

I noticed 25mm displayed in your exifs of 24mm pics. Very strange, because in my Z6 there is 24mm available. You probably confused the focal when you set on the menu.

Anyway, I find incredible how the crop reveals the sharpness, so, at 1/100 and if handled, the body's VR does the job brilliantly !

I used the Megadap adapter and to get the focal length into the Exif data I need to set to a specific aperture take a shot and then switch off the camera. I set the aperture after memory and it was not 100% correct. I should have set f14 instead of f16. So that was my fault.
There is no VR. Z50 body has not in-body VR. But it shows that adapter works. Now a 24mm set to f5.6......then most will be in focus.....

Maybe I have developed a good trigger technique after years of pistol shooting competitions :-)

Maybe also some vintage lenses performs better on a DX sensor than a FX.

I wonder now Z5 is released if more Z-bodies with DX sensor will developed. Z5 has same layout as Z50 with PSAM-wheel moved to the right and no LCD display.
Also price difference is not huge and only the same two DX kit lenses is available in DX format. But this is another topic.....
