I am interested in swapping my 24mm 1.8g lens for this lens but the greater-than-usual sample variation worries me. I don’t have a clue how I can check if I have a good sample. Any thoughts on that?

I for one would have kept the 24/1.8. It is a nice and compact alternative to the 14-30.

I decided to wait with purchasing the 14-30mm. I haven't even used the 24-70, 35 and 50mm lenses yet. But that will change soon.
W.r.t. the sample variation risk, the solution turns out to be easy. I can return the lens within 14 days of purchase.
