One of my favourite libraries is the John Rylands Library in Manchester, England.  When he died, his wife had it built to his memory, it is now part of Manchester University.

I always had a sense of importance when entering these old libraries.
The feeling is similar as entering a church. Probably the architecture has something to do with it.
I remember when I was studying how libraries were full of people. It seems that the trends are different nowadays unfortunately.

The alcoves get used quite a bit but on Saturdays, if the weather is bad, the place gets full of tourists.

Great shots, John.  The exterior shot is beautifully done.

Old Library at Trinity College, Dublin in July this year. I was in Dublin for a conference and it was the first international travel since the pandemic. D700 with Nikkor-UD 20mm 3.5

What a lovely find adliwahid
This place feels like another "Church of the mind"

After a long period of travel restrictions, you certainly made the most of your freedom!

Thanks Colin! It was definitely great to be out and about with the camera again. I got the 20mm during the lockdown and hadn't been able to use it much.  :D
