The matching colors in the first one are striking.  Are it multiple images?

Both versions are good Fons.

I love the mixture of vivid and subtle tones in the colour version

Fons the composition is fantastic. The woman looking the same way as the picture, and the husband in the background going through his newspapers.
I don't especially like the over-saturated colors in the color version. The reds are hurting my eyes.
In the BW I think the contrast is too high and the background blur on the husband is too harsh, probably due to over-sharpening.
But that's just me, you know how I like not so sharp, muddy, and blurry images :)

The pastel colors of the first one seem to work better for me.
It just feels more rounded vs. the BW which has a disruptive feel.

cheers

Color for me. The image has a paint-esque flavor to it ... oils not charcoal ... so to my eye the color works best.

As presented, I prefer the color, although I'd like to see a little less blue in the white balance.
The black and white version might be better with less aggressive tonality processing.

Colour version for me, but the red jacket on the left is a bit to strong for me, if it was softened a bit the image might be more balanced.

Both versions, the composition is great.
