Grand Canyon / Bryce Canyon (2006)
« on: February 25, 2022, 23:25:55 »
I've been browsing through my old files and found these images from a 2006 trip.
Shot with a D70s when I was still shooting in a Ken Rockwell style (oversaturated and sharpened jpegs, no post processing).
So tonight I attempted a different style, as much as was possible from these horrible jpegs.

I think you did well, Luc especially. During daytime the light is very harsh in the area (as I just experienced). I don’t know how the files look on hour screen but on my ipad the WB seems to be red-heavy (the sky).
It’s great that some people are visible in the second photo, which illustrates the scale of the area.

Bruce canyon and surroundings are a favorite of mine. Good choice to convey the memory of the place. Thanks for sharing it!

Fine results Luc.  Always useful to reprocess  older images.  Only jpgs? That is harder to correct indeed.  Increase of micro-contrast, and/or enhance the image may be a help too in reprocessing the image.  Also useful to check the red-green and blue channels.

I guess we all have seen the Rockwellesque look you describe.  I like this 'aged postcard' or 'indifferent textbook lithography' look. Good save!
