Nikon Coolpix 5900/7900

My first digital camera was the Nikon Coolpix 5900 and I liked it a lot (In the end of the seventies I bought my first camera, Olympus OM2-n). I liked it so much I bought a black 7900 which is still in use.  And the Coolpix's were also the reason I entered the Nikon board with a D80 somewhat later.

The 5900 was great against the sun, and useful with macro as the subject could be approached by a few centimeters. Very convenient in small corners and that's the main reason to keep it (apart from the fact it is personally impossible to sell one of my camera's).  Any one else used that camera?

Many years ago, I briefly used a Coolpix 950, you know, the swivelling one. Used it for IR as it was quite sensitive to infrared rays. Since then only had a AW100, which is OK, but apart from its tolerance to being submerged, far better for video than for making stills.

For me, the 1 Nikons are a much better option than the current Colpix range, impressive as their specifications might be. The ability to switching lenses is just too important aspect of my photography.

I had been big fan of swivel Coolpix's and enjoyed using 950, 995 as well as 4500.  I brought two 4500s to Frankfurt to report Musikmesse 2004.  They worked very well.

I briefly used P7700 when P7800 was the current, because I didn't need the optical viewfinder or EVF.  I liked the free-angle LCD.  One thing I regret is that there have never been any Nikon 1 body with the free-angle LCD.  I would have liked the latest J5, which seems to offer (finally) the improved image quality, to have one.

Anyway, here is my humble example of P7700 shot at 28mm equivalent setting wide open.
