Basking-2
« on: April 18, 2018, 13:57:17 »
This was taken a few years ago on Queen Street East, here in downtown Toronto.
I was walking with a photobud looking for interesting scenes when I spotted a young woman reclining in a chair with head back, legs outstretched and eyes closed basking in the warm summer sun.
I exposed for the highlights to eliminate the darker, shaded background, and got this shot.
motorized Nikon FA
Vivitar 17~28 f4.0-4.5 AIS manual focus
Fuji 100 ISO colour slide
5.6 @ 1/1000th
I shoot with film. That's film. F...i...l...m. You remember film. It was in all the papers.

Mongo quite likes this. The square frame works in this case. Essentially B&W with colour subject having two of the primary colours - this does catch your attention. Particularly like the diagonal black area (set at 1/3) in combination with its complementary 2/3 grey area. The mottled shadow of the foliage is very well placed to balance the space in that part of the image. There is a lot in this shot when you really study it. Nice work.
