Medium Format Lens: The Alpa Macro Switar 105mm

Seems like an incredibly capable lens with a wallet-incinerating capable pricetag.

Amazing, price? 4.888 Swiss Franks is 4150 Euro.

Yep, hence wallet-incinerating.
And I also do not like the style of lighting in those sample photos.

Plus it has a floating element that can be moved to change reproduction ratio from 1:4 to 4:1 and a large image circle so tilt and shift can be used (https://www.alpa.ch/en/article/macro-switar-5-6105-mm).

Seven hundred 100MP images would take some processing power.

Interesting find.

Not exactly suitable for field use, but seems hard to beat for low-to-mid range studio work.

I still consider the Laowa (on order to be shipped this month) to be the primo field choice (to replace my reverse-lens shooting upon arrival).

What is especially interesting is the even bigger picture (pardon the pun): there are now two high-mag macro zoom alternatives apparently developed in 2017 for 2018 release.

Hope Nikon delivers new macro options this year as well ...

In the meantime this lens seems to be peerless for low/mid range studio ultra-macro application. However, given the price, I will look for a used Apla Macro Switar 105mm on Ebay over the ensuing months/year ;D

Well, if you (=anybody) are interested in that lens, it might be good to ask for the price of the  Inspec.x L 4/60 from Qioptiq  ( http://www.qioptiq.com )    ;)

interesting... with 82mm image circle.. too bad it is v-mount.

for insects, i prefer the Mitutoyo M Plan APO objectives... but i would love to have this Rodenstock lens

V-Mount is a no-brainer as there are readily available adapters to M42, sold by company Schneider itself ;-)

Qioptiq has some really badass objective lenses too  ;D
I'm not gonna ask the price, I know I can't afford it.

Could you please at least write the lens' name correctly in the title if that isn't too much?
Hurts me to see such an excellent lens misrepresented.... ;-)

Edit to add; I have corrected it - Erik
