Aperture ring on AF-D f2.8 20-35mm

My new to me AF-D f2.8 20-35mm, has a stiff aperture ring. It is a little annoying as when I overcome the friction to move it overshoots, by a stop.

I have the Japan screwdrivers and some of the correct grease, though I doubt it needs grease. Is dismantling the aperture ring on this lens difficult. I have stripped and rebuilt a 50mm AIS once before, but never touched an AF lens.

As you remove the mount the aperture ring comes off easily.
Inspect the ring and mount for impact damage before you do anything,,,

Just a drop of grease on the small spring and groves, the ring itself don't need grease, it's plastic

The plastic aperture ring on many early AF and AF-D lenses are stiff like this, the plastic-on-plastic friction is higher than the older metal aperture rings...
