My name is Elias Sideris (elsid) and those that think my name seems Greek, are right, it is Greek. I live in Voula, a seaside suburb about 25 kms south of Athens. End of November in 1978, I was returning to Greece from the USA, after 7.5 years, during which I studied (BS, MBA) and worked in a company selling IT services. I intended to make photography my hobby and bought a Nikon FE with 3 AI lenses (28/2.8, 50/1.4, 135/3.5). Only the 135mm is still with me. But, back to Greece, I realized that I was more
interested in swimming, tennis, skiing (yes we have skiing in Greece), sailing the Aegean, and some time later, fly fishing for trout. The FE was used simply to immortalize some "worthy" moments, according to my judgement. I worked for 27 years in IBM Greece, and retired end of 2006, at the "tender" age of 63. It was 1.5 years ago that my interest in photography resurfaced and I bought a D810. I have seen the work of M. Erlewine, his photographs are like paintings, and I have consulted the old site of BR repeatedly, in order to buy some old Nikon manual focus lenses. So, my mileage in photography is limited. I am a "tenderfoot". I joined you because I think communication, exchange of ideas, and the expertise that the members of NG share generously, will contribute to my efforts to become a better photographer.
